Initially the aviation sector of the U.S. Armed
Forces was a part of the U.S. Army and was known as the Air
Service (May 24, 1918 through July 1, 1926) until it was
replaced by the U.S. Army Air Corps (1926 – 1941) and was later
known as the U.S. Army Air Forces (1941 – 1947). |
