Staff Sgt. Brian McElroy, 28, was killed on Jan. 22, 2006, when
a roadside bomb exploded by his armored Humvee near Taji, 18
miles north of Baghdad, Iraq. |

| |
McElroy, a native of San Antonio, Texas, worked as Information
Security with the 3rd Security Forces Squadron based at
Elmendorf Air Force Base. |

Also
TSgt Jason L. Norton, 32, who was with him died from his
injuries and a third person was flown to Germany for treatment
of non-life-threatening injuries which included burns, scrapes
and a head wound. |

|
| |
TSgt Norton and SSgt McElroy shared the same
coffin and headstone because their remains were unidentifiable,
according to an Arlington Cemetery spokeswoman. |

In attendance were 40 other deployed members from Elmendorf Air
Force Base, Alaska, home station of the fallen Airmen -- Tech.
Sgt. Jason L. Norton and Staff Sgt. Brian McElroy. Joining
members from the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing were British and
Australian troops who came to pay their respects. |
